Andrew Allshorn

Andrew’s passion for the 3D Printing industry goes back to the day he first heard about the technology and 32 years on, continues to grow. 

Andrew started out, studying Art and Design at Wolverhampton University. He then went to work in a traditional hands-on model makers for 15 years, before starting his AM career working at Liverpool University’s PIDC. running a 3D Systems, SLA250 which he now owns and is still working. 

Two year later he was offered the position of Applications Engineer at 3D Systems. Within a year he became the senior Applications Engineer for Europe and was responsible for introducing SLA machines to several industries including Automotive, Aerospace, Bureaus, and Formula 1. Working with the OEM’s and teams to develop advanced applications for the 3D Printing process. 

Since 2007, Andrew has run his own successful businesses within the industry. Andrew has an exceptional breadth and depth of knowledge of the software, hardware and materials aspects that must be combined to generate best practices and results with AM. Moreover, Andrew’s knowledge is augmented by a pragmatic and personable approach when applying his expertise for the benefit of others. 

With this unprecedented access to numerous industrial sectors, including automotive and aerospace, Andrew’s experience and expertise have seen him invited to participate in various global events and summits. 

In 2016, Andrew’s distinguished work in the AM sector was recognised by AMUG when he was awarded the exclusive Distinguished INnovator Operator (DINO). In 2017 he was awarded the role of AMUG European Ambassador and the following year he became AMUG Global Ambassador. In 2019 Andrew became AMUG Vice President 

In 2022 he was invited to sit on the Additive Manufacturing United Kingdom (AMUK) Steering Committee and was also honoured to become a member of the Advisory Board for Woman in 3D Printing. He also sits on the TCT Expert Advisory Board, 3DPI Awards Expert Committee, as well being a Create Education Ambassador. 

After 32 years in the industry Andrew is still running his own company and is extremely passionate about promoting AM via STEAM Education and getting children involved at schools and colleges. 

Andrew continues to push the boundaries of Additive Manufacturing globally.
