Gary Ogden has a BSc (Hons) degree from UMIST and a PhD from Loughborough University in Materials Science, and is a Fellow of The Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IOM3) and Chartered Scientist (CSci) with the UK Science Council. He is an active committee member of The Manchester Polymer Group (IOM3), having served in all Officer roles (currently Treasurer) and is a founding board member and current chairman of the Society of Biodegradable Plastics (SBF).
He has over 30 years of experience in the field of specialty additive masterbatch and compounds for film, sheet and wire & cable applications. During this time he has been responsible for the development of novel additive masterbatches to suit customer and market requirements, and bespoke biobased, biodegradable compounds for novel applications.
He is greatly involved with standards and regulatory affairs of biodegradable polymers, advising various governmental and NGO bodies such as DEFRA, ECHA, ESMA, BSi, GSA & KSA whilst serving as Technical Lead at ASTM on sub-committee D20.96 concerned with degradable and biodegradable polymers in the environment.
